Pet expense tracker

A running list shows where the money goes: a few large vet bills, or small recurring costs such as food and litter. It makes next year easier to plan and gives you a record when a bill is unexpected.

The category list is a starting point. Use the ones that match how you think about costs. Fewer categories are easier to keep up than many.

• Food and supplies are the steady costs.
• Veterinary and medication costs tend to arrive in bursts.
• Boarding or sitting, grooming, and training are costs you choose.
• Insurance, if you have it, is a regular payment you can log once a month.

• Keep paper receipts in an envelope, or take a photo with your phone and name it with the date.
• Log expenses weekly, so you are not reconstructing months at once.
• If you have pet insurance, write the claim date and result in the description.

The total adds only the amounts that look like money. A row with text in the amount cell is skipped and counted, never guessed. Totals are a convenience, not accounting or tax advice. If you use pet costs for a business or a tax reason, ask a qualified professional.
