What a lost pet flyer needs

  • A large, clear photo of the pet's face and one that shows the whole body if you have it.
  • A one-word headline that says what kind of pet is missing.
  • A short description of size, color, and anything distinctive, such as a patch, scar, or missing tooth.
  • Where and when the pet was last seen.
  • One phone number that you will answer, and a second way to reach you if you want one.

What to leave off

  • Your home address. Cross streets or a landmark are enough.
  • Keep one detail back, such as a marking or an item the pet wears, so you can ask a caller to tell you what only the owner would know.
  • Long paragraphs. People read flyers at a glance from a car or a doorway.

Where to put it

  • Veterinary clinics, groomers, pet supply shops, and community boards near where the pet was last seen.
  • Neighbors' doors and mailboxes, within the rules of your building or area.
  • Local lost-and-found groups and pages, with the same photo and details.
  • Visit nearby shelters and rescues in person, and ask how they handle found animals. A flyer does not replace a visit.

After your pet is found

Take the flyers down and tell the places that helped. Update any online posts so people stop looking and calling.

Common questions

Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is read by your browser and shown on this page only. It is not sent to WhiskerMatch, and it is not saved. If you reload the page, add it again.
Does this post my flyer anywhere or search for my pet?
No. It only makes a printable page. You decide where to put it.
Can I print more than one flyer per page?
The flyer prints one per page. The tear-off tabs along the bottom carry your phone number. Use your printer's settings or a copy shop for larger runs.
