When not to use AI in adoption review
Help staff and volunteers recognize where drafting assistance should stop and a person should take over.
AI can prepare material for review. It should not be used to manufacture certainty, avoid a hard conversation, or hand off accountability.
01
Stop before a decision
- Do not use AI to approve or reject an applicant.
- Do not use it to rank possible homes.
- Do not let a summary stand in for reading relevant source material.
02
Stop when context is sensitive
- Medical or behavior interpretation requires the appropriate person.
- Policy exceptions require an accountable reviewer.
- Conflict, safety concerns, and discrimination risks need human attention.
03
Stop when the source is weak
- Conflicting notes have not been resolved.
- The relevant update is missing or stale.
- The output cannot show what source supports it.
- Reason to stop
- Person taking over
If this worksheet surfaces a specific handoff problem, WhiskerMatch can start with that one workflow while the rest of your tools stay in place.
