When not to use AI in adoption review

Help staff and volunteers recognize where drafting assistance should stop and a person should take over.

AI can prepare material for review. It should not be used to manufacture certainty, avoid a hard conversation, or hand off accountability.

01

Stop before a decision

  • Do not use AI to approve or reject an applicant.
  • Do not use it to rank possible homes.
  • Do not let a summary stand in for reading relevant source material.
02

Stop when context is sensitive

  • Medical or behavior interpretation requires the appropriate person.
  • Policy exceptions require an accountable reviewer.
  • Conflict, safety concerns, and discrimination risks need human attention.
03

Stop when the source is weak

  • Conflicting notes have not been resolved.
  • The relevant update is missing or stale.
  • The output cannot show what source supports it.

If this worksheet surfaces a specific handoff problem, WhiskerMatch can start with that one workflow while the rest of your tools stay in place.
