## Write for someone who has never met your pet

Habits you do without thinking are exactly what a sitter does not know. Include the small things: which door your cat watches, which treat is saved for the vet, which noise makes your dog bark.

## What the sitter needs on day one

- How to reach you, and who to reach if they cannot.
- The clinic's number and the emergency clinic's number.
- Exact feeding times and amounts, and what not to feed.
- Medication copied from the label, with times.
- Where the leash, food, litter supplies, and cleaning supplies are.
- Escape risks: gates, doors, and any spot where your pet has slipped out before.

## Do a trial visit

If you can, have the sitter visit once before you leave, with your pet present, and follow the sheet. Anything they have to ask about is a line to add.

## Share private details separately

Door codes, alarm codes, and spare key locations do not belong on a printed sheet. Share them directly, and consider changing them afterward.

## Vet authorization

If someone other than you may need to bring your pet to the clinic, ask the clinic what they need from you in advance, such as a signed note or a payment arrangement. Write what you decided in the sheet.

## Common questions

- **Does this cover medication instructions?**
It has a place to copy them from the label. It does not suggest doses or advise on any medication.
- **Can I send this by email?**
You can print it to a PDF using your browser's print dialog and send that. WhiskerMatch does not send email from this page.
- **Is what I type stored on a server?**
No. It stays in your browser, and only if you press Save in this browser.
